Historical Water and Sewage Info:
In October 28, 2011, the Stormwater Department held its annual Rivers Alive Savannah Clean-up. The department
provided volunteers with free lunch, reusable bottles, shirts, kayaks and sunscreens. This department has done
extensive awareness to its customers like having information about stormwater available and how people can
benefit from it.
The group Rivers Alive supports all year round clean up for areas in the state that needs cleaning after registering
to its page. They keep a tally of numbers of clean up information like no. of volunteers, hours spent cleaning, no. of
bag collected.
October 14, 2011, the officials of Savannah District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was prompted by a forecast
stating that there is going to be a drier-than-normal winter and spring from an updated long range weather
forecast for the Savannah River Basin. Hence, the reduction of water discharges its three-reservoir system on
the Savannah River. In J. Strom Thurmond Dam the reduction is from 4000 cubic feet per second, it will now be
3,800 cfs retaining more water for the coming months for the reservoir. The Corps reduced maximum outflows
in July to 4,200 cfs when reservoir levels entered “drought level 1”, then reduced further when level entered to
‘drought level 2” This could be the remaining level but with the forecast’s deterioration, the officials have to
reduce the flow further.

Toilet Overflow Savannah GA, Sewage Removal Savannah, GA
Most will not charge a fee (please inquire prior to giving your address). A certified
water damage mitigation specialist is usually able to estimate the scope of work
and let you know the approximate cost of mitigating your water damage.
Oftentimes, homeowners know what caused sewage damage, and can
determine whether to call a plumber or the city sewer emergency line. At the
same time and prior to calling your insurance company, it is a good idea to call
a water cleanup company. Remember water cleanup companies do not fix
plumbing problems, and plumbers do not perform water cleanup and restoration.
If you have experienced sewage backup resulting from septic tank overflow,
call your local septic cleanup company and water damage mitigation
company. In cases of toilet overflow, call a plumber. If city sewer is involved,
then call the city’s Sewer Department or Water Works Department. Most
government departments have an emergency line you can call 24-7 and ask
for immediate assistance.

(failure to properly maintain, negligence, regular break), you may have to pay

water damage preparation includes knowing the difference between flood damage, and that of water damage.
Flooding can be classified as the “rising and overflowing of water onto normally dry land. Where as water
damage occurs when water damages your home before it actually comes in contact with the ground. While most

Water removal is one of those few things that should only be done by a professional water removal company.
However, Google search for the term ‘water removal Savannah GA,' does not yield many useful results to choose
from: waste management companies, dumpster rental, and medical waste disposal service companies can not and
will not be able to remove water and perform proper mitigation.
Water Clean Up, Sewage Cleanup: Oftentimes, homeowners experiencing
water damage are not sure who to call for help because they do not know
whether the problem occurred inside their plumbing system or in the main
sewer line. Determining who is responsible for water cleanup can save you
thousands of dollars in water removal and restoration bills. It can also prevent
your homeowners insurance premiums from going up. If water damage
occurred due to fault on behalf of the city, then the water cleanup cost is likely
to be paid for by the city.

Toilet Overflow Savannah GA:
Toilet Overflow is one of the common causes of residential sewage damage. Toilet overflow is usually a result of a
septic backup or a blocked drain.
Avoid septic system failure by performing regular maintenance and avoid drain blockage by not flushing items such
as sanitary wipes, cat litter, condoms and other things that are not intended to be flushed and you will not have
overflowing toilet.
If you believe your toilet is about to overflow (raising sewage water in the toilet bowl), you can prevent devastating
sewage damage or limit sewage contamination by following these steps quickly:
Take the toilet tank lid off and plug the rubber flapper valve into the drain leading to the toilet. Then lift up the floater
to stop water from entering the toilet tank and lock it in this position. Reach down and close toilet water supply valve.
Call the plumber.
If you noticed toilet overflow too late and sewage has already spilled on the floor, that means area is contaminated.
Based on what materials have been touched by sewage, you may need to have them removed. If the contaminated
area is small 1-2 square feet, hard (tile) and you cleaned sewage up and disinfected the area immediately (wear
gloves), you may not need to call water and sewage damage restoration experts. Just the plumber.
However, if you didn't notice overflowing toilet and the toilet overflow affected area is medium to large or if the
material is porous (carpet, vinyl, linoleum) or sewage sat there for longer than about 10-20 minutes, you need to call
sewage damage restoration company to clean it up. Sewage damage experts usually will arrive quickly and come
prepared. Ask the sewage restoration technician what needs to be done and discuss options of filing insurance claim
or paying out of pocket.
Cleaning technicians should normally remove the contaminated materials that can not be disinfected in place
following the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration standards, apply anti-microbial solution that kills
bacteria, parasites, mold & mildew, steam and dry the area.

Sewage Backup Savannah GA:
Sewage backing up into the bathtub is one of the most unpleasant things a homeowner may discover upon entering
a finished basement or first floor bathroom. Bathtub filling with sewage usually happens when your septic system
fails and sewage that is supposed to flow into the septic tank backs up into the lowest level of your home overflowing
bathtubs and toilets Bathtub sewage backup may also happen if your main drain is blocked. Bathtub Sewage
Overflow can be quickly handled by Sewage Damage Cleanup & Repair specialists.
Do not flush or run water anywhere in the house.
If you decide to use buckets to extract sewage from bathtub, do NOT pour it into the sink! If you poured drain
cleaner chemicals into your tub and it didn't help, always remember: they are highly toxic! Use caution and always
warn plumber if you tried using drain cleaner chemicals lately.
